Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) via the journal's web platform (https://revistarebe.org/). Word counts vary according to the document type (see the corresponding section). Research articles should range between 6,000 and 8,000 words, excluding the bibliography. Longer manuscripts may be considered in exceptional cases. All submissions must adhere to the editorial standards.

Submission Checklist

To streamline the submission process, authors must verify that their manuscript meets all the criteria listed below. Submissions that do not comply with these guidelines will be returned. Several of these requirements are formally declared in the Article Submission Letter.

Verification points:

  • The manuscript is original, and the authors agree not to submit it to other journals simultaneously.
  • The Submission Letter includes each author's full name and identifies their specific roles according to the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT).
  • The manuscript is written in one of the official publication languages: Spanish or English.
  • The manuscript is submitted in the most recent version of Microsoft Word.
  • The manuscript complies with all publication requirements established in the "Author Guidelines."
  • The manuscript adheres to the Journal's ethical policies.
  • The manuscript complies with the CRITERIA principles regarding the use of AI.
  • Authors have ensured that their manuscripts comply with the scientific integrity principles established in the Singapore Statement.
  • The article includes the title, abstract, and keywords in both English and Spanish.
  • If the article is derived from a research project, the project title, identification number, funding source, and year are provided.
  • DOIs are included in each reference whenever available. If no DOI is provided, authors must include the respective URLs where possible.
  • Whenever possible, the article is linked to its Data Management Plan (DMP), protocols, software, or datasets, using full citations and DOIs.

Scope of the Journal

Revista Boliviana de Educación (REBE) is an interdisciplinary scientific journal dedicated to neuroeducation. By integrating behavioral, cognitive, and developmental neuroscience, the journal aims to generate scientific evidence that advances educational innovation and the design of brain-based pedagogical practices.

Revista Boliviana de Educación (REBE) is an international, diamond open-access journal with an Ibero-American reach. It primarily publishes work in the following fields:

  • Evidence-Based Neurodidactics and Teaching Strategies: Research on neuroscience-based pedagogical strategies and the evaluation of their effectiveness in real-world educational settings.
  • Cognitive Neuroscience of Learning: Studies on the brain and cognitive mechanisms underlying learning, including memory, attention, language, perception, and executive functions.
  • Emotional and Socio-emotional Neuroeducation: Research on how emotions modulate learning and the impact of socio-emotional development on academic performance.
  • Emerging Technologies and Neuroeducation: The application of innovative technologies (AI, virtual/augmented reality, neurofeedback) to optimize teaching and learning.

The journal is Open Access, published in PDF format, and follows a continuous publication model. The editorial team determines the order, volume, and issue number for all approved manuscripts.

Document Types

Submitted manuscripts must fall into one of the following categories. You can download a template here.

Research Article: An original publication presenting novel knowledge, findings, theories, or methodologies that contribute to the field of neuroeducation. Word count: 6,000–8,000 words (including all sections except references).

Review Article: An original publication covering neuroeducation topics with significant recent developments, offering a comprehensive and balanced "state-of-the-art" perspective. These critical and exhaustive literature syntheses must: a) formulate a clear research question; b) adhere, whenever possible, to PRISMA or other recognized standards (e.g., Cochrane); and c) have the protocol registered and published on OSF or PROSPERO. Word count: 6,000–8,000 words, excluding the abstract, references, tables, and figures.

Case Report: A publication providing a detailed description of a unique case or a small group within a real-world educational context, analyzing neuroeducation-based interventions, their outcomes, and practical applications. It must illustrate the application of neuroeducation principles with methodological rigor and relevance for researchers and practitioners. It should include impact assessment, limitations, and transferability to other educational contexts. Word count: 1,500–2,500 words (excluding references).

Short Communication: A manuscript presenting preliminary findings, partial results, or studies of limited scope with significant scientific relevance to neuroeducation. This format prioritizes the rapid disclosure of novel findings that require agile publication ahead of more extensive studies. Word count: 2,000–3,500 words (excluding references).

Editorial Standards
